What to Expect

Class Etiquette
The essence of yoga is the cultivation of mindfulness. We ask that in this spirit you honor the practice etiquette principles set forth below so that we may each contribute to our community consciously and compassionately.

Before class
Arrive at least 10 minutes early to settle in, introduce yourself to your teacher (notify them of any injuries or things you're working through), observe silence in the practice space, remove shoes before entering the practice space (there are cubbies for your shoes and other small items), turn off your cell phone, leave a positive blessing with your donation, and enjoy!

During class
Yoga may push your edge and cause discomfort or soreness in your body from time to time. Know that this is normal. Yoga, however, should never cause pain. Listen and honor what your body tells you. If you need to back off of a pose, you're encouraged to do so. Yoga truly is non-judging.

After class
Please leave the practice space quietly. Our yoga practice often begins the moment we step off the mat. Remember to take it with you!

Q. What's the cost?
A. There is a $10 suggested donation. The studio is 100% funded through student donations. How much you give matters. It is how teachers are compensated and what allows us to make yoga affordable and accessible to all. To put it in perspective, the cost of an average yoga class in the Twin Cities is $20 per class. We think $10 is a steal of a deal!

Q. Do you take cash, credit/debit, checks?
A. Yes, yes and yes. Cash/checks go in the donation box. For electronic payments like credit/debit cards, we have a spiffy (and secure) payment processing system called Square. It makes you feel like you're in the future!

Q. Where is the studio located and where can I park?
A. Yoga Sol is located at 21 5th Street NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413. Do you know where Garden's of Solonica is located? Or Red Stag? We're right next door! There is plenty of street and metered parking in front and around the studio.

Q. I've never done yoga before. What class should I take?
A. Try them all! We teach to all levels from beginners to advanced. A good place to start though, is Vinyasa. It is one of the more common styles of western yoga. Do introduce yourself to your teacher and let them know you're new to the studio and yoga.

Q. What should I bring to class?
A. Yourself! Really. We have extra mats if you don't have one or forget yours. At Yoga Sol, we try our best to keep it simple. On a regular basis though, do bring a yoga mat, water and a towel.

Q. Is there a place to change clothes? Do you have locker rooms?
A. We do have a unisex restroom where you can change. We also have cubbies for your shoes and small items.

We welcome questions/suggestions! Send 'em to community[at]yoga-sol.com.
